Shaheen Afridi is a pride of Pakistan. He is a well-known name in the cricket history of Pakistan. His full name is Shaheen Shah Afridi. He was born on 6th April 2000. He is a professional cricketer and famous as a fast bowler in the Pakistani national cricket team. He started playing in 2018 & also played his first test match in December 2018.

In 2017, he was 17 years old with a 6 foot & 6 Inch height. He has a fast bowling talent & can throw the ball at 90 MPH. He is also famous for his big-hitting skill. He is also known as an all-rounder player & seeks to excel in bowling. He always performs well in batting & fielding. In August 2018, he was awarded by the Pakistan Cricket board a central contract for 2018-2019. He was one of thirty-three Pakistani players who got this opportunity.

He belongs to a tribe named Zakha Khel, which is of Pathans. He grew up in the town of Landi Kotal. It is situated in khyber District Pakistan & here, the border link with Afghanistan. He has seven brothers, and he is the youngest of all of them. His eldest brother’s name is Riaz Afridi, who is 15 years older than Shaheen Shah. Riaz Afridi played a solitary test match for Pakistan in 2004. So, it can be said that the love & passion for cricket Shaheen got from his family. Then, Shaheen started his professional career as a cricketer in Landi Kotal from the tattva ground. Riaz Afridi fully supported Shaheen to become a famous Pakistani cricketer.

The journey from the common person to Pakistani Cricketer:

Riaz was introduced to Shah Afridi at the FATA in 2015 under 16 trials to hard-ball cricket. Due to its success, Shaheen Afridi was selected for the under-49 tour of Australia in November 2015. There he played his part with four wickets and got 2-1 victories in twenty 20 series & one-day series.

Domestic & T20 Career:

In December 2016, Shaheen’s name was included in the Pakistan under-19 Cricket team. Shaheen Shah Afridi was selected for the under-19 Asia cup held in Siri Lanka in 2016. He got three Wickets for 27 runs. He signed two years contract in September-2017 with Dhaka Dynamites. It is a major Bangladesh Premier league franchise. After that, he did his first-class project for Khan research laboratories in 2017-2018 &won the Quaid-e-Azam trophy on the innings of the match; he got eight wickets for 39 runs. It was the best figure by a Pakistan bowler.

In 2017-December, his name was selected in Pakistan’s squad under-19 cricket world cup for 2018. He got twelve wickets and became the leading wicket-taker in this tournament for Pakistan. In the international cricket council, Shaheen Afridi became a rising star of the squad.

He also played for Lahore Qalanders in T20 in Pakistan super league in 2018. In the Lahore match with Multan, Shah Afridi got five wickets for four runs. Lahore won the match by six wickets, and he was declared as a man of the match. In 2018, his name was selected for the 2018 Pakistan Cup.

He was also selected in July-2019 for the Rotterdam Rhinos in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. But, unfortunately, during the following month, this tournament was canceled. In December-2019, It was declared that he would play in 2020 for the T20 blast in England for the Hampshire country cricket club.

Then, on 20 September-2020, in a T20 blast in the round of group matches, Shaheen got four wickets in four balls. It was declared as the best bowling figure in T20 cricket at the Rose Bowl.

In the 2020-21 National T20 cup, on 2 October-2020, He got his second five wickets to haul in three T20 games front four overs. After three days, He got another five-wicket haul with figures 5/21 in the match again Sindh.

International Career:

In March 2018, Shaheen Afridi’s name was included in the list of players in the Pakistan T20 international Squad against the West Indies. He played in the T20 series against west indies on 3rd April 2018. Then, in September 2018, he was announced to play in Pakistan’s one-day international Squad for Asia Cup-2018. He played in one day match against Afghanistan on 21st September 2018.

In November 2018, Shah Afridi was selected to play Pakistan’s test Squad against Newzealand. He Played this series against New Zealand on 3rd December 2018.

In 2019, he was also selected to play for the cricket world cup 2019. In the match against Bangladesh, on 5th July 2019, Shaheen was the youngest bowler who got five wickets, with figures 6/35 match finished. These were the best figures in world cups by Pakistani bowlers. In the next world cup, he was declared a rising star of this squad.

During the second test match against Sri Lanka in December-2019, he took five wickets.

In June 2020, Shaheen Afridi’s name was included in the 29-man squad for Pakistan’s four to England during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Then, in July, he was shortlisted in Pakistan’s 20 man squad for test series against England.

Personal Life:

In March 2021, It was reported from some resources that Shaheen Shah Afridi is going to be engaged with the elder daughter of Shahid Afridi named Aqsa; both famous names of Pakistan will become close relatives due to this relation.
